Who can volunteer?

Anyone can join us as a volunteer who fulfill following requirements:

  The person must be a graduate in any discipline.

  The person must have certain essential qualities that include:

  Compassion  Non-judgmental outlook

  Empathy  Excellent listening skills

  Sensitivity  Duration

  Willingness to learn

The duration of the volunteer period should be at least twice a week for 2-4 working hours especially during official working hours except in special circumstances. The volunteer will be on a 3 months trial period which will be reviewed on an on-going basis.

Location

The areas where the volunteers can work are wards and patient care service areas like guest relations, IPD waiting areas etc.

Nature of Work

Volunteers' work profile, rights, and responsibilities will be defined by the management but the basic task of a volunteer involves the following :

  Conversing with the patients

  Relieving the boredom of patients due to their long stay—playing games with them etc.

  Motivating and cheering patients

  Being a friend to the patients

  Discussing the patients' problems and trying to solve them

  Acting as a link between the hospital authorities and the patients
